Animation Final

Finally! It's my final project. This took me about five hours, 77 frames (drawings), and I watched a lot of Michael Jackson videos for reference.

Animation

I think everyone who reads this blog probably already knows this, but I am hoping to be an animation major in college. Right now I am in intro to 2D animation, and I recently finished my bouncing ball project. I made a ball bounce. On paper. Crazy! Anyways, here it is. My final project is making a sack of flour dance. If it goes well, I will post that too.

Free Expression Board

Being an artist is hard, mostly because everyone says "Wow, you are such a good artist. I wish I could draw/paint/make t-shirts/have cool hair etc." When someone makes this comment, I usually respond, "Everyone is an artist, because art is so subjective that no one actually knows what the definition of art is." After I make this comment, they usually continue to say that they are a terrible artist but I stand firm in my belief that everyone is an artist because no one knows what good art is. I would like to say that all the girls on my floor are phenomenal artists, as shown by my Free Expression Board in my room. All I did was hang up a poster and write on it "Kim's Room Message Board." All the girls on my floor did the rest. Check out this amazing street art. To all my favorite girls out there, keep up the good work because we are amazing artists.

Hinckley Hotties

My dorm floor made matching t-shirts, because we are just that cool. I made a stencil for the front, and then we all decorated the backs ourselves. I think we look pretty hot.

Photography 116

It has been a long time since I blogged. That's because I go to college, and I'm supposed to be studying or doing homework or something. Also, I don't have the resources to be really creative at college. Well, I do have a bunch of sharpies, some posters, and sticky tack. What more do I need?
Anyway, right now I'm in Photography 116, or intro to photography. I've taken some good pictures, and some bad ones, and some in between. Here are my favorites:

That's What Makes You Beautiful

I just got back from the One Direction concert in Charlotte! It was AWESOME! The boys were fantastic. They are amazing singers and they are so funny. They were singing to a stuffed animal cat that someone threw on the stage, and they tried to talk in southern accents!

I went with my three friends and we all made t shirts for the concert. One said "Come in my One Direction". The others had song lyrics on them. One had the Superman symbol and said, "I can't be no superman, but for you I'll be superhuman" and the other one said "Niall, we are the same." Mine said "I stole a car so we can drive to the stars." I tie dyed it to look like the British flag, and I also put glow in the dark stars on it.

I like big BOOKS and I cannot lie

I realized I haven't posted in a while. Sorry if you actually read my blog. A project I recently worked on was a graduation present for my best friend. I got a plain white tote bag and used puffy paint to write "I like big books and I cannot lie". HAHAHA. Get it? I think she liked it. I forgot to take a picture of it before I gave it to her, so no picture on the blog.

Photography

I recently finished taking a photography class a wake tech. I learned so much about photography, and I think my pictures have really improved. This one is my favorite one that I have taken. I used the night landscape setting on my point and shoot camera, which keeps the shutter open.

Upcycled "Bean" Bag

In case you haven't read my previous posts, I am making a bean bag out of old t-shirts. And it is finished!
I used six old t-shirts, two old pairs of jeans, and two jumbo sized bags of stuffing. So technically, this is more of an oversized pillow then a bean bag, since it doesn't have any beans in it. Overall, this projected costed me about $16....just because of the stuffing. If I had used foam beans for this project, it would have costed me something like $50.

 Don't be surprised if I don't post anything for a while because I might be too busy sitting on my "bean" bag reading my favorite books to think of anything creative to do. 

T-Shirts...and Jeans

I've almost finished my t-shirt bean bag! I made the sides with two pairs of old jeans, then sewed the sides, the top, and the bottom together. All I need are some beans and my bean bag will be finished.
I also started on my t-shirt quilt. There is no pattern to it, I just cut out the graphics on the t-shirts, arranged them, and used the leftover parts of the t-shirts to fill in the gaps.

Jewelry

I have a friend who loves to make jewelry. She loves it so much that she has an entire bead room!! It is so cool because it has every bead you can possibly imagine. She literally has everything. She asked me to come over and help her make some necklaces and bracelets. I made three necklaces and two bracelets, and she let me keep this one.

T-Shirts

I realized something recently, the only thing I wear is t-shirts. Well, and pants of course. I have nearly 50 t-shirts that are either too big, too small, or I loved them so much that I wore them out and I can't wear them anymore without looking homeless. So my next creative adventure is recycling my old shirts that are worn out that I don't want to throw away. Right now I'm working on a quilt that i'm making with t-shirts that I've gotten from different places when I have gone on vacation, or when other people have gone on vacation. I'm going to call it my "oh the places I've been...or the places other people have been where they got me a t-shirt" quilt. I think it will be pretty cool. I'm also working on a bean bag that has been made from some t-shirts with cool designs on them. I got the idea and the pattern for the bean bag from a book that my sister gave me as a graduation present. The book is called "Dorm Decor" by Theresa Gonzalez and Nicole Smith. The picture shows what I have done so far, cut up six t-shirts into large triangles to make the top of the bean bag.

Trolley

I have a niece, and she is so cute! So I decided to make her a toy trolley. I found the pattern in a book called "Wee Wonderfuls: 24 Dolls to Sew and Love" by Hillary Lang.

Book Purse

Why have a book and a purse when you can combine the two and make a book purse? I got a thick, hardback book and a purse from Goodwill, cut out the inside pages of the book, put fabric on the inside, cut the handles and clasp off of the purse, and glued them too the book. I got the idea from a book called "Alter This" by Alena Hennessy Bowers

Crayon Art

Everyone on Pinterest is doing crayon art, which is where I got my idea for this piece. I used three boxes of crayons that I glued to the top of the canvas. Then I drew a girl with an umbrella with a sharpie. Then I melted the crayons. It was pretty easy, and it turned out cool.

I like Pinterest. Who doesn't? I see all these crafty things that people are doing, and I'm like "I wish I could do that." Then I realize that I already do that. I'm crafty too! So the main reason I'm starting this blog is to pin my crafty things on Pinterest.
